ALL YOUR FAQ’S ABOUT VIDEO
MARKETING ANSWERED
Every business needs video marketing, remember when the nail gun replaced the hammer?
Yeah, like that.
What is video marketing?
Video marketing is like viagra for a limp ad campaign. Use video to promote your brand, product, or service.
There are numerous styles of marketing videos and just as many platforms. From testimonial videos to explainer videos
and product demonstrations. Video marketing is the key to increasing engagement and gaining attention for your brand.
How much does video production cost?
Each video project is customised to achieve our clients desired outcome. These range from $500-$50K. Variables that affect the price include. Multiple locations, location rental, actors, props, multi-camera setups, catering. Typically larger productions require a larger crew, not always though. Reach out for a quote if you need clarity
Are there any additional or hidden costs?
We know nothing about social media marketing and don’t even have a website, where do we start?
You are in the right place. Consider us your portal into the new world of digital marketing, we work with the best in the business. Everything starts with a strategy. Book in a time to talk with us.
Where are you based?
Physically we are located in Whangarei, New Zealand. Auckland video production is our specialty but we also film nation-wide and overseas in multiple countries.
Do I have to be in the ad? Do you use actors? Do you need shots of our company or products?
How long have you been in the industry for?
We have over 30 years of combined experience producing video content for major brands both here and internationally. We are award-winning filmmakers and have produced videos for TV, websites, social media, TV documentaries and interactive video marketing campaigns. We have operated cameras for TVNZ, MediaWorks, MTS and Prime TV. Our current focus is creating videos for New Zealand business owners to help increase their sales.
Why is video production important?
Video can explain the key features and benefits of your product and service visually, audibly, and with graphics. Your message has more chance of reaching your target audience and capturing their attention. When viewers watch a video, they retain 85% of the message, compared to as little as 15% of the written word. Video cuts through and draws attention by stimulating our emotional response.
Can video production be automated?
Yes and no. There is software out there like www.moovly.com, www.movavi.com, or the GoPro Quik app. It depends on the type of video you’re creating and the amount of control or customisation you need. We offer an in-house editing solution for clients that need a video editing-only service. You can get started here.
Why is video marketing compulsory for any serious business today?
You are potentially leaving $$$ on the table, or even worse, making monthly donations to your competitors in the way of market share. In 2020 Video marketing was a 20 billion dollar industry, and it’s forecast to hit $292 billion in 2027. There is a clue here. Hire a reputable video production company, or just start filming on your smart phone. If your competitors aren’t doing this today, they will be soon.
Why is video marketing better than traditional marketing?
It’s the closest thing to you telling someone in person how good your product or service is.
Your video works for you 24/7 and it’s Omni present online, it’s like cloning yourself, or your best sales rep.
Video can be automated, different videos can be played at different stages throughout your funnel helping the sales process along while building relationships, trust and confidence in your prospects.

How to write a video marketing script?
There are 3 key elements. Hook, story, offer.
Hook: Your video needs to captivate attention straight away, a scroll stopper.
Hooks are in every great email, advertisement, landing page, sales page, or webinar.
Without a great hook your audience will pass you by. Introduce the problem or pain point here.
Story: The story endorses the hook. Good stories create a bond between the seller and the prospect. They build credibility and trust, pre-selling your offer.
Offer: The offer should solve their problem. The more irresistible your offer is, the less friction there will be. Know your audience, ensure your CTA call to action hits their pain point and offers them a solution.
Write like a 10-year-old and pretend you’re talking to an old friend, keep the tone conversational.
What does the video production process involve?
Every project is different, but it’s broken down into three stages.
Pre-production: This is when we work with you to learn all about your business what key problem you’re trying to solve and what style of video you need to solve that problem.
We define your target audience, key messaging. Then develop the treatment or creative idea, scripts, book talent, locations, secure props etc. Of course if it’s a simple point and shoot video this process is dramatically scaled down.
Production: This just means filming, we turn up with the camera, lighting and audio equipment and capture you, a presenter or actors in various scenes and locations.
Post-production: This can sometimes be the lions share of the work, depending on the style of video. During this stage we bring the footage into the editing suite and work our magic, selecting the best takes to assemble a video that clearly delivers your message to your audience and looks great. We then mastering the audio, colour grade and upload the draft to our review platform ready for you to give your feedback on any changes you would like.
How much input do you require from us?
The least amount possible, we know you’re busy doing what you’re good at.
We need you to fill in a creative brief document, this will give us answers to key questions that will give us a deeper understanding of your business and what you want to achieve. Whether it’s marketing videos or safety videos the same questions apply.
We then go through the pre-production process keeping you informed along the way as well as getting your sign off on the treatment, script, talent, location and budget.
You are welcome to come and hangout on set or location while we are filming but there is no need to if you don’t want to.
The only other thing required from you will be reviewing the final video for sign-off or changes.
As part of our process we do an in house review first so as to deliver what we hope will be the finished video for your review.
Total average minimum client time required would be around 2 hours.
What about graphics, logos and branding?
Do you add voiceovers and music?
Absolutely, we can do in house voiceovers or hire a voice actor of your liking to voice your video, prices start at around $150. Music is defiantly including and we have access to the highest quality production music available today. The style of music we use will depend on the type of video we produce.
Can you add subtitles to your videos?
Yes, captions are super important as 85% of viewers will watch mobile video with the sound off.
If we are producing landscape video for your website it’s not so important and can even detract from the story. If viewers are on your website they will typically take time to watch a video with the sound on.
How can my video go viral?
We have a special button, we just push it and your video goes viral. I’m joking, there is no framework or strategy that can make you go viral otherwise everyone would be doing it. There are however certain key elements that really help. We launched a tourism video that we shot in a small town, population 3,280 as of writing this. We launched the video on youtube and created one organic Facebook post on the Friday night, by Sunday it had 30,000 views.
We put this down to three key elements.
We used locals in the video so they would tag and share it.
The narrative was trash talking the town but the imagery was showing how beautiful it was, so it was controversial. And you can definitely see that in the comment section.
It was great Kiwi satire if I do say so my self and people had a good laugh and then shared it.
In closing I would like to say if you do watch “Don’t go to Raglan” Do go, it’s one of my favourite places on earth.
What if I want a shorter version of my video?
We highly recommend it. Let’s say we shoot a 60 second video for you, this can often be cut down to a 30 and even 2-3 15 second clips giving you more content for more platforms gaining you more attention.
We often include this in your video strategy.
What should I wear?
Clothes, I find most shoots go better with clothes on and there are various reasons for this.
Seriously though stay away from hard blacks like this T-shirt, hey I’m teaching you, just listen. Hard whites and stripy intense patterns.
Blacks can get lost in the camera, whites can clip the camera and get lost as well, intense patterns create a weird effect in camera called moire.
Light or dark tones are fine, pastels are great, colour is awesome. Think about your own skin tone what do you look good in? If you prefer to wear blacks because you packn a bit of beef, choose dark tones. If you have sensual deep gorgeous blue eyes then accentuate them with that blouse you know makes you look smokn hot. Finally , be yourself, everyone else is taken.
Do I have to write my own script? Will you help?
What if i’m too nervous to present?
Ahh, this is a great question. A lot of people are so you’re not alone. We have one of the best presentation coaches in the country working at Facebox. Trust me when I say by the time she has coached you through those butterflies you will not only present well you will have enjoyed the process and gained a new skill.
What if I can’t remember my script?
How will my video perform online?
How long can my video be?
15 seconds through to 3 minutes is a ball park answer.
We start with the end in mind so if your video is for TV and it’s a 30 second slot then obviously the video is 30 seconds long. If it’s a branding film it could be 3-8minutes long, a testimonial video could be 45 seconds.
Things to consider here are what platforms do your audience hang out on and what is the best length performing video for that platform.
Do you create interactive content?
100%, in fact here is a link to the movie trailer for an interactive road safety campaign we did.
Choose your own ending or choose your own adventure campaigns are highly interactive because the audience is immersed in the story, deciding what to do next.
This type of creative involves third party services to host the software ensuring all the videos link and work together seamlessly. But once set up, clients can expect next level engagement. These are also great options for safety training videos as memory recall is a lot higher.
Do you keep copies of your projects?
Do you do Photography as well?
Absolutely, photography comes standard with all our video packages. You may have heard the saying content is king, we believe the more content you have the better. So you will receive multiple finished photographs from the film day, fresh headshots if required and candid stills for your social media content.
